Description:

A recent survey conducted by the National Safety Council of the top concerns held by a large sample of US workers found that 62% ranked safety as their greatest concern, even above pay and benefits! Certainly, most employers regard safety as a high priority. Assuring a safe working environment is the right thing to do and it makes real economic sense.

This half day workshop is geared to safety in the manufacturing workplace. During this hands-on workshop you will gain a better understanding of General Industry Codes of Federal Regulations.

The discussion will revolve around how safety works to sustain productivity and safeguard a manufacturer’s most prized asset, the workforce. Specific topics include:

Inspection priorities, targets and the inspection process

  • How does OSHA decide which companies to target for inspections
  • How can you compute and compare your accident rates to your competitors
  • Have OSHA penalties gone up
  • How does OSHA compute fines
  • What happens during an OSHA inspection

Training requirements and OSHA HAZCOM standards

  • What are OSHA's requirements for chemical awareness
  • What types of items does OSHA cite under the HAZCOM standard
  • What training do I need to provide to my employees

Safety Incentive programs and locating resources for OSHA 29 CFR standards.

  • What does OSHA say about incentives
  • How can I strengthen my incentive awards program
  • How can incentives be made proactive to create a safety culture
  • How do I find the safety rules that pertain to my work environment
  • Is there a way to simplify understanding safety requirements as an employer

The morning will end with a tour of Four Seasons Produce- find out how produce is sorted and gets to your grocery store.
